Your Kia car, SUV, or MPV has a door sill at the bottom of each door frame. Installed at the factory, they help to keep your cabin free of dirt, leaves, mud, and worse. Pair them with a set of quality floor mats, and you're preserving your interior's appeal -- which means you're well on your way to maintaining its maximum resale value. And who doesn't find that appealing?
Types of Door Sills Offered Online
Thanks to the wear and tear that they undergo on a daily basis, door sills are generally made of durable materials. However, higher trim levels may feature specialized door sills. Here are a few of the types we offer:
Signs of Damaged Door Sills
That daily use is going to eventually take a toll. Visible scratches, dents, dings, or even cracks in the material aren't unusual to see after several years of use. A loose or completely detached door sill, though, is a sure sign that you need to replace yours ASAP. Otherwise, the decision as to when to switch to a new set is purely up to you.
how to Replace Your Door Sills
First, get the right ones. You see, door sills made to fit a Kia Telluride SUV won't fit properly if you try to install them in your Kia Riocompact sedan. That's because the Telluride is a much larger vehicle, so its doors are longer than those found on the Rio. That compatible fit is also an issue if you try to go with generic aftermarket door sills.
Once you've gotten the right door sills, installing them is a breeze. Pull the old sill plate up until the adhesive lets go and the plate comes off. Next, remove the adhesive strips. After that, clean the area, apply new adhesive, and carefully press your new sill into place. That's it!
